Roman BreakfastEarly Start

The Romans ate a simple breakfast. Most Romans would have eaten bread, honey and fruit in the morning and to drink they would have had plain water. Sometimes there would have been cheese with the bread at breakfast.

Poor people would have had only bread and water to break their morning fast.

For most people the day would begin at dawn.

Slaves would get up earlier, in the dark, with work to do for the wealthier families.
